Business Set-Up

Our business setup services include:

  • Choosing a business name and crafting a mission statement

  • Obtaining an EIN (Employer Identification Number)

  • Selecting a legal structure, such as a nonprofit, sole proprietorship, or LLC

  • Registering with the state, including Articles of Incorporation and, for nonprofits, obtaining 501(c)(3) status

  • Providing guidance on opening a business bank account

Grant Writing & Business Planning

Our Grant Writing and Business Planning Workshops are designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to develop strong Grant Proposal and/or Business Plans to secure funding for a new or existing organization and/or business. Our workshops cover all the components to writing an award winning grant and/or business plan from start to submission.

Job & Career Readiness

Our program prepares individuals of all ages to become job ready, even without experience, is all about showing what you can do. You can build useful skills by volunteering, listing your education and school activities on your resume, and applying for beginner-level jobs. Practice answering interview questions and highlight qualities like being dependable and willing to learn. Our workshops focus on making great candidates!

Analyze life strategies for success recording data that involves identifying key themes, assessing strengths and weaknesses, understanding motivation, using strategic planning tools, and maintaining overall well-being.

Development

A Life Action Plan-To make a life action plan, start by defining your goals—both short-term and long-term. Identify your strengths, weaknesses, and the steps needed to achieve your goals. Break your plan into actionable tasks with deadlines and prioritize them. Stay flexible, track your progress, and adjust as needed. Surround yourself with supportive people and resources to stay motivated. Most importantly, stay committed and take consistent action toward your desired future.

Implementation

Journey to Success will implement workshops through a dynamic blend of entrepreneurship training, peer-to-peer learning, and tailored support to meet individual needs. The program will incorporate both virtual and in-person sessions, ensuring accessibility and flexibility for participants. By assessing each individual's interests and goals, the workshops will provide personalized guidance, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among peers. A strong focus on organizational strategies and priorities will equip participants with the tools to develop sustainable business models. Through interactive learning experiences and mentorship, Journey to Success will empower individuals to take actionable steps toward their entrepreneurial goals.

Sabrina McConnell Executive Director, Instructor, Consultant

Sabrina McConnell is an accomplished educator, administrator, and program director with over two decades of experience in education, literacy, and youth development. She has dedicated her career to empowering students and educators through curriculum development, instructional leadership, and community service. Her extensive academic background has equipped her with the skills to drive student success, enhance literacy programs, and mentor educators.

A lifelong advocate for academic excellence and community and student empowerment, Sabrina McConnell remains committed to fostering growth, leadership, and success in education.

Alissa Bingham, Community Engagement, Youth Enrichment

Alissa Bingham a lifelong resident of Detroit, Michigan, has dedicated nearly 30 years to shaping young minds as an educator. Her deep faith is evident in her unwavering commitment to serving others with love and dedication.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Bingham has made a lasting impact on children, primarily within the Detroit Public School System. More recently, she has expanded her reach to diverse communities beyond Detroit. Her talents extend beyond the classroom—she has served as a standardized test proctor and center administrator, tutored children in reading and math, and helped students secure scholarships for college. She also served on the board of a charter school in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Currently, Alissa runs SEGWAE Performing Arts Theater, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and empowering children 8-18 who have experienced childhood adversity. Through the arts, SEGWAE fosters resilience, creativity, and personal growth.

A lifelong learner, Alissa holds multiple degrees in education. I

Kim Johnson Community Engagement

Kim L. Johnson is the Founder and CEO of Center of Hope for Youth and Community, Inc., a fine and performing arts and human services development center. She also leads KLJ Productions, specializing in mass media and Christian entertainment. With 25 years of service in Detroit Public Schools as an assistant attendance officer and substitute teacher, she continues to serve as a retired educator.

Kim holds a Master of Arts in Family Studies from Spring Arbor University, a Master of Arts in Social Justice from Marygrove College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice/Liberal Arts from Wayne State University. 

Committed to fostering creativity, her ultimate goal is to establish a thriving fine and performing arts community center. She has contributed to film projects, written a screenplay, and is currently filming her first feature movie.

Michael Johnson Media Specialist

Michael C. Johnson, is a graduate of Cass Technical High School (Class of 2004), Detroit, MI and has built a dynamic career in media and communications. His passion for film production began at the age of 12 when he started learning audio and video production at Greater Emmanuel Institutional C.O.G.I.C.

After high school, Michael pursued higher education at Wayne State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs and Political Science in 2012. He continued his studies at Wayne State, obtaining a Master’s in Communication with a specialization in Media Arts in 2017.

In addition to his academic achievements, Michael has received professional training from CMN TV public access channel. He is also the founder of a photography and multimedia company, where he has worked with numerous celebrities, sports teams, and high-profile events. His expertise in media production continues to shape his career as he expands his impact in the industry.
